Local 80s Action movie fan disappointed with current state of Dystopian future.

Daryl Thomas hoped he would at least be fighting sea monsters by 2012.

A local man who grew up on 80’s action films has been left with feelings of disappointment as the dystopian future he lives in is not as exciting as the one he had hoped for.

By the turn of the Millennium Daryl Thomas, pictured above, had already converted his cold war era nuclear bunker into a fully operational military base for the upcoming war with the machines.

“I had canned food, running water and electric, and a shotgun with armor piercing rounds for the Terminator’s armour plating.”

Yet as time went on with no nuclear winter in sight, Daryl turned to the his next project. The Bio-apocalypse and following zombie infestation.

“It would have been so cool, I taught myself lockpicking and how to hot wire a car, I got a crossbow and a years supply of Monster energy drink. I was ready for whatever those walkers could throw at me”

He was not, however, ready for prolonged unemployment and rising costs of petrol for his modified caravan. With his debts rising and not enough money coming in from his karate dojo, Daryl was forced to sell most of his assets and declare bankruptcy.

“They took my bunker, my camping equipment, my hunting gear, all I had left by the end of it was my caravan and the knowledge I had gained over the years.”

With his Dojo closed, Daryl was forced to get a job as a delivery driver for a local pizza company. Yet he still has hopes that society will come crashing down and he will once again be able to pick up his spear (A make-shift Pizza cutter duct taped to a broom handle which he stole from his work) and put his skills to the test.

“I’m hoping for a Demolition Man type future, where crime has soared out of control and criminals run rampant. There is some progress with Free Speech being taken away, but these days the worst thing that can happen to a guy is he gets cancelled on Twitter.”
